Ver s'hot felder,

Who has fields,
Who has forests,
Who has a wagon,
And I have only troubles, poverty,
And a boss, Moshke.
Hey! Horses, fly! Pull!
Haul around the people:
One must bring profits to Moshke,
Otherwise I won't earn.
Who has sheep,
And who has cows,
Who has only rags,
And I have a wife and children
And pants full of holes.
Who sits on stools, chairs,
And who in easy chairs,
And I sit on Moshke’s coachbox,
Driving to the hotels.
A rich man looks for a hooker,
A crook looks for a hideout,
I must hear, see and be silent,
Occasionally I am the matchmaker.
The frost burns, the sun roasts,
It may even rain,
I must always,
Look for new ways.

Qui a les champs,

Qui a un wagon,
Je n’ai que problèmes, pauvreté,
Et un patron, Moshke.
Hue! Chevaux, allez! Tirez!

Killed, broken wings,
The Wild pain drove her soul.
Cocaine silver dust,
All roads - road covered with snow.
At seven years old I went to work,
From ten was an orphan,
And seventeen years I was gone,
I smoked, swore, drank.
Steal I did not know how,
In the bazaar learned from thieves
And for that, I sang songs to them,
These songs are a distant land.
I go, I wander, stumbling,
And I do not know where I'm going,
Oh why do I have this fate,
I hate this fate.
Quietly weeping strings of the guitar,
Dumas sad in my answer,
I'm still a young girl,
And my soul a thousand years.
Killed, broken wings,
The Wild pain drove her soul.
Cocaine silver dust,
All roads - road covered with snow.

Won't you tell me, won't you tell me
Tell me where they sell the dope
Ach, it's there in the upper town
That's where the dervishes sell it
Oh that black dope, oh that black dope
It was a widow got me hooked
And she made me a wanderer
A dope head and a raggedy-ass
All around are the dervishes,
In the middle the water-pipe
Ach, see Gianni hasn't smoked any
Now he's totally jonesing.
Pourriez-vous me dire, pourriez-vous me dire
Ach, Gianni n'a encore rien fumé

(I had a lover, full of passion and faith,
but i never knew why, he cruelly left me abandoned.)
Le buscaba sin cesar,
entre copas de champán,
y olvidara si quería,
mi más ardiente y loco afán.
(I searched for him ceaselessly,
in between glasses of champagne,
and i forgot if i loved him,
my torment and my crazy obsession.)
Busqué placer
en el licor,
busqué calmar, mi cruel dolor.
(I sought pleasure
in liquor,
I sought to assuage, my cruel suffering.)
Siempre locuras ansiaba
al hombre que tanto amaba,
cuando el placer ya vi marchar,
cuando el amor ya vi alejar,
fue la cocaína un consuelo
para mi anhelo mejor calmar.
(I always yearned crazily
for the man I loved so much,
when I saw the pleasure leave,
when I saw love fading into the distance,
cocaine was my consolation
in order to better calm my longing.)
Una noche en un foyer
a mi antiguo amante vi
(One night at the theater
I saw my former lover,
he was frenziedly kissing, the star of the show.)
Su maldita ingratitud
agitó mi corazón,
yo oprimiendo aqí un cuchillo,
vengar yo quise su traicón.
(His damnable ungratefulness
stirred up my heart,
I pulled out a knife,
I wanted revenge for his betrayal.)
¡Viva el champán
que da el placer,
quiero reír (ah hah hah)
¡quiero beber!
( Long live champagne
which gives so much pleasure!
I want to laugh (ah hah hah hah)
I want to drink!)
Mi juventud ya declina
dadme a probar cocaína,
amante infiel yo vuelvo a ti,
loca trepé de exaltación.
Y en mi fatal desvarío
hundí el cuchillo, en su corazón.
(My youth is now slipping away,
give me cocaine to try,
Oh unfaithful lover, I return to you,
crazed with exaltation.
And in my fatal delirium
I sunk the knife, directly into his heart.)
________________________________________
a agitée mon cœur,
J’ai sorti un couteau,
Je voulais ma revanche pour sa trahison.
Vive le champagne
qui me procure tant de plaisir!
J’ai envie rire (ah hah hah hah)
J’ai envie de boire!
Ma jeunesse m’échappe déjà,
Donnez-moi de la cocaïne,
Oh infidèle, je reviens vers toi,
folle d’exhaltation.

11. Por Morfina y Cocaina
En la cárcel del condado (In the country jail)
sacaron una cadena, (they took out a chain gang,)
eran puros prisioneros (they were all prisoners)
que iban a sufrir su pena. (who were going off to serve their sentences)
Fue el veintitrés de octubre (It was the twenty-third of October)
llevan veintiséis convictos (they were transferring twenty-six convicts)
a la penitenciaría (to the penitentiary)
Todos van a Leavenworth (All of them are going to Leavenworth)
por no saberse tantear (because they didn‘t know the score,)
el whisky y la marijuana (that whisky and marijuana)
que algo bueno han de dejar (have got to leave something good.)
No les valen los consejos (They didn't pay attention to the advice)
que sus padres les han dado, (that their parents gave them,)
sabiendo bien que esos viejos (knowing full well that these older people)
ya por todito han pasado. (have already been through everything imaginable.)
Unos dejan a sus madres (Some leave their mothers behind)
rogándole al Dios del Cielo (begging God in Heaven)
que se duela de sus hijos (to feel sorry for their children)
y que les mande algún consuelo. (and to give them some consolation.)
Otros dejan a sus hijos (Others leave their children
esperando a su papá (waiting for their father,)
y sus padres a la finca, (and their parents in their last moments,)
sabe Dios, hijo verás. (God only knows, child, if you will get to see them.)
Solamente el que ha vivido (Only someone who has spent)
algún tiempo en la prisión (some time in prison)
sabe lo que son congojas (knows what anguish is,)
y penas del corazón (and what heartfelt sorrows are.)
Qué triste es ir pa' el tren (How sad it is to board the train)
cuando ya se iba a arrancar, (when it is getting up steam to go,)
qué tristes iban los presos, (how sadly those prisoners were going,)
daban ganas de llorar. (it was enough to make you cry.)
Rechinaron las maneas (The shackles were clanking)
y la campana sonó, (and the locomotive's bells rang out,)
y entre ruido de cadenas (and between the noise of the chains)
un gemido se escuchó (a groan could be heard.)
Por morfina y cocaína, (Because of morphine and cocaine,)
por marijuana y licor, (because of marijuana and liquor,)
están poniendo su tiempo, (many are doing their time)
muchos allá en derredor. (up there in Leavenworth.)
Pero el mundo es una bola (But the world is a globe/big lie,)
y el que lo anda es un bolón (and he who walks in it is a bewildered wanderer,)
y cada quien con sus uñas (and each one with his finger nails)
se rasca su comezón (scratches his own itch.)
Señores, este corrido (Gentlemen, this ballad)
no es de mayor interés (is not of the greatest interest,)
es compuesto humildemente (it was humbly composed)
por Manuel Cuéllar Valdez. (by Manuel Cuéllar Valdez.)

(Smoke, smoke, sang the frog
as he blew out the dust of the marijuana.) (2x)
(Marijuana had a little son
and they named him San Espedito,
and he was the lawyer for Santa Ana`s followers,
because he was really seasoned for the marijuana.) (2x)
Marihuana, ya no puedo ni
levantar la cabeza,
con los ojos retecolorados
y la boca reseca, reseca. (2x)
(Marijuana, I can no longer raise my head,
with my eyes so very red
and my mouth so very dry.) (2x)

In the night darkness only the wind is blowing
But a meeting near the market place was held
There the hooligans, evil bandits
Were gathering for an urgent committee.
A woman made a speech, her name was Murka
She was sly and brave
Even the evil bandits were afraid of Murka
Because she was living a thief life
Chorus:
Murka, you are my purring one
Murka, you are my Kitty
Murka, Marusya Klimova
Forgive your sweetheart
Everything suddenly went wrong, roundups began
Many members of our gang disappeared
How to find out who became a traitor
To punish him for the change
Once we went out for a robbery and decided to drink
We entered an expensive restaurant
Murka was sitting there in leather coat
And in her pocket there was a gun
Murka, what's happened was there something you didn't have?
Didn't I dress you?
Rings and bracelets, skirts and jackets
Didn't I give all it to you?
Hello, my Murka, my dear Murka
Hello, my Murka and goodbye!
You have revealed all our business
And now get a bullet for that!

Tu as révélée tout nos plans
Et tu mérites une balle pour ça!
